Howdy, Folks!

This phrase can only mean one thing: the much anticipated State Fair of Texas, my very favorite autumn activity, is here! Although the forecast predicted a very rainy day, we could not stay away. Here are the highlights of our great fair day:

Getting scooped up by a "digger"

Learning how to be a puppeteer

Digging in the ginormous sandbox

Winning wiggle racer races. These crazy cars were so much fun to wiggle around on! Even Mommy got a turn.

Even though the day got progressively drippier, our spirits could not be dampened.

The auto building was a definite hit! My Guys tried out almost every single automobile on display, and had a ball doing it. (I just kept seeing my future flash before my eyes as my Big Boys drove off into the sunset.) It was warm and dry inside so we let the Boys "drive" to their hearts' content.

The traditional Big Tex pose. We observed the Big Guy for about 20 seconds after taking this photo, and yet what was O's absolute favorite moment of the whole day? You're looking at it!

The Vitamix demo is always one of my favorite things at the Fair. Watching these witty guys whip up concoctions in this amazing machine is fascinating to me. And the samples can not be beat! We came this close to bringing one of these fabulous machines home with us this year. O was entranced by the demo, completely absorbed in the live cooking show.

The day continued to get wetter...

and colder...

but no one seemed to mind...except for poor No-nos. He was not a fan of the rainy day.

The Boys had fun loving on this sweet calf. Nosy is communicating in the mother tongue of the cow. "MOO!"

Wait up, Daddy! Did you say we're heading to the petting zoo? Hooray!

Noah greeted all the animals with a hearty wave.

He loved feeding the frisky baby goats with Daddy.

O hardly needed any assistance feeding the animals.

We thought Nosy was so engrossed in watching the animals, until I took a closer look.

Sucking on the fence?! Gross, Nosy!!

We headed home after this, to a warm bath and warmer beds. What a great day at the Fair! It may have been a bit wet, but there were no crowds, no lines, and our fun could not be spoiled by the weather!

Amazing pictures. Owen looks so tall! And Noah looks so old! I am so grateful to be able to keep track of your lives in Dallas so we don't feel so out of touch. Love from Oregon.
