Worn out and crabby after a long day of shopping
Meanwhile, Jeremy and a very generous friend spent all day repairing and power-washing our fence. We worried we were nearing the point of having to spend the thousands to replace it, but our friend convinced us it was worth saving. We were more than willing to save our money and put in the hours needed to bring it back from the brink. Thank you, Friend, for giving of your time and energy and ready smiles!
Saturday dawned quite chilly, but we were outside bright and early ready to stain our good-as-new fence. Home Depot Guy said it would be super easy and only take a couple of hours. That should have been our first warning. Our handy-dandy stain sprayer, which never worked very efficiently, broke early on, leaving us armed only with paint brushes and a bucket of stain.
O didn't mind at all. He had the time of his life "painting" the fence. Our fence seemed to stretch on for miles. My parents mercifully took the Boys to lunch so Jeremy and I could focus all of our attention on staining. By 5:00pm, we had only completed about 3/4 of the inside of the fence. Were we ever going to finish?!
Just when we couldn't take it any more, Papa arrived, armed with a brand new sprayer. He and Jeremy stained the rest of the fence in only a few hours. Wow that sprayer made a huge difference in productivity! We are so glad that job is behind us! The fence looks new again and we all have a great sense of accomplishment...and awfully sore arms!
