Prep, Step 1

Mother's Day is huge to us: the one day each year set aside specifically to celebrate the women who mean the most to us in the whole world. In the House of Halpin those women are Yaya and Gigi. These two godly ladies are such blessings to us, especially in the many ways that they love us sacrificially and unconditionally.

Owie and I had a great time preparing for the big day!

Our Mother's Day craft: foamie cards. I bought a book of foamie ideas, a bunch of different shaped foamies and a powerful glue stick. Owie carefully selected the pictures he wanted to make for each Grandmother.
For Gigi, it was some crazy, bed-head type guy. He made the pictures all by himself, following the directions and gluing the perfect shapes in their spots.

All done with Gigi's card!

For Yaya, he picked out a colorful caterpillar.

All through! He even drew super-long antennae on his caterpillar!

Here are samples of O's writing skills these days. He sounded out "Yaya" and spelled it on his own. As for "Owen," a new development is the lowercase "n." We have been working on lowercase letters lately. Only the "n" is consistently lowercase. Strange. Now we need to focus on letter order and direction. He gets all the letters down on the paper, they are just in some crazy order. Great job, O! I am so proud of you!
