Summer School Is in Session

This summer, the House of Halpin is joining forces with a couple of my cousin's families to do a home-school co-op of sorts. It was my cousin's sweet wife Libby who dreamed it all up. Each mommy plans a two week unit of study on various topics, and the kids, spread out from East to West coasts all work on the same things at the same time. Not only will it provide some structure to our lazy summer days, but the kids will have some things in common when they meet again later this summer. Best part of all, the work load in planning the units is divided.

Our first unit is on the state of Colorado, where we will be gathering in July for CuzFest 2009. The Boys were so excited to get started!

I love Nosy's intensity!

We made US maps and traced our routes from home to CO. We are travelling by car, so we moved little cars along our route.

O has such a love for maps. He very meticulously colored and drew on his map, getting it just right.

Some days we feel more like doing school than others.

Here the Boys are practicing standing in four states at one time. Pretty tricky!

We have already had so much fun studying CO and have done so many fun things that are not pictured. I am impressed by how much they remember about what we have studied! I am really excited to do our next unit which is on the history behind July 4th.
