Season Opener
With soccer season ending and a new baby soon to arrive, Jeremy and I thought it would be fun for O to have another big boy activity to kick off the summer. When one of my fellow soccer moms mentioned that her son's T-ball team was looking for a great coach as well as a few more players, we signed Owie right up. He was so excited, and as the coach's son, he got to help name the team and select the uniforms! (I am still working on the appropriate t-ball lingo. They wear uniforms, not outfits. And the points are called runs, not goals. I will get this all figured out eventually!)
O's greatest fans arrived bright and early to cheer him on!
O's favorite part of the game?
"Playing catch before the game to get ready. I liked to catch it best. No...maybe I liked to throw it best. I liked all of the warm-up! And the snacks!"
We got some terrific news after the game. Stay tuned...

Armed and Dangerous
We invited the other Halpins over one lazy Sunday afternoon for a B-B-Q and a good ol' fashioned water balloon fight. After spending what seemed like hours filling water balloons, it took less than 5 minutes to demolish all the balloons. But everyone had a great time, especially the big boys! I love it that these guys never fully grow up. Add in all the little guys we have between us and there is never a dull moment!

Wild Boys
We met up with our great friends to enjoy the Arbo again before the Texas heat set in for the summer. After spending considerable time shirtless and shoeless (aren't we classy?!) splashing in the frog fountains, we let the boys run wild to drip dry. Watching them soak in the sun, faces lit up with laughter and joy was, by far, my favorite part of the day. I just love having Boys!!

Milkweed Time Again
Evidently there has been a nation-wide shortage of monarchs this year. We have had scouts checking our normal monarch breeding ground for eggs with absolutely no success. We were so sad to think that we may not get to witness metamorphosis this year.
And then we had great news! The season was just getting a really late start. We headed to Harry Moss Park to scout out some monarch eggs to adopt, and we were hoping to find enough to share with Clayton and Oliver too.
I must have been delusional because when we got home, I could only find 3 of the six eggs I thought we had. I was so bummed! We gave two to our cousins and kept one guy for ourselves. However, the next day, Dad called to report that he was growing several stalks of milkweed in his flower bed and that he thought there might be eggs on a few leaves. Hooray!! We rushed right over, and sure enough: three more eggs to watch develop.
This is one of our favorite projects all year. Not only are we witnessing a miracle right before our eyes, but it is such a tangible representation of the transformation God does in our lives when we accept Him. What good talks the Boys and I have during monarch season!

First Tuesdays
We love First Tuesdays at the Dallas Museum of Art. Due to scheduling conflicts, the Boys and I had not been in awhile, so when May rolled around, Owen had been asking to go for awhile. Thankfully, we were free...and so was Yaya!
The only black spot on our day? I convinced Yaya that we would do perfectly well parking on the street at a meter and saving the outrageous parking garage fee at the DMA. I diligently kept up with the time and re-fed the meter half way through our stay. However, when we left, we were three minutes late getting back to the van, and there, on my windshield, was the dreaded parking ticket. Ugh!! I ended up spending three times the amount the garage would have cost just to pay the ticket! I learned my lesson the hard way...

Cousin Oliver
Erica and I have been switching off some babysitting lately, giving the cousins some play time and the mommies a little errand-running time. It's been great! These guys enjoy each other so much!
