Lessons Learned Today
And I'm not talking about the kids. I learn more from my kids each day than I think they could ever learn from me. Take today, for example...
(The Boys wanted pictures taken of Daddy tagging them OUT! in backyard baseball. They are such posers. :-) )
After school was done, the house was straightened, supper was thought out and the early prep done, I had a few minutes to spare. Aaaahhhhhh. Down time. I laid Jones down for a nap, set out Legos to entertain the Biggies, poured myself an extra large glass of my new fave drink (Diet DP mixed with Coke 0 in a 1:1 ratio) and headed to my room to watch the latest episode of Say Yes to the Dress. Relaxation at its finest. But alas, I was followed. I was just about to tell O that Mommy needed a few minutes of "rest time," when he piped up: "Mommy, can I read to you from my Bible?" And, shame on me, I actually hesitated. I was so looking forward to a little peace and quiet! In the pause, O changed his mind, "Or maybe you could read to me? Stories about Jesus? Maybe from Luke?" Thankfully, that gave me time to mentally scold myself. I was about to sacrifice precious time spent with O studying God's word together to watch a cheesy show about wedding dress selection. What's really important, not to mention, eternal, here? Now that's some major conviction.
This Guy hates kisses. Noah wipes off every kiss he gets, and he gets a ton of them. He is just so incredibly kissable! We were wrestling on our bed today, and part of wrestling with Mommy is getting lots of kisses. He was squealing and protesting every kiss. "Mommy, STOP!! No. More. Kisses!" So then I asked him, "If I can't kiss you, Nosy, how do I show you how much I love you?" He shrugged his little shoulders and said, "Just play with me, Mommy," with a huge grin. Wow, did that hit home! I spend 24/7 with the Boys, but mostly we are learning, cooking, reading, cleaning, shopping together. I have to remind myself to stop doing what I feel needs to be done and just play with them. Play whatever they want to play for however long they want to play it. Before I know it, they won't want to play with Mommy anymore. Slow down, let the house/dinner/errands wait and PLAY with my kids.
Lessons (hopefully) learned.

Let the School Year Begin!
It is with much excitement and a tad bit of nervousness that we enter the 2011-2012 school year.
This year, Owen is in 2nd grade and Noah is starting Kindergarten. Such BIG boys!
It will be great to be teaching both boys together. I am just a little nervous about the work load plus entertaining a very fast crawler.
Crazy boys!
A fun, new way to practice handwriting: flour on a cookie sheet. The Boys loved it and the mess was minimal. They could erase and start over as many times as they wanted.
O's learning cursive this year. We are up for the challenge!
How can you tell if we've had a great day? The messier the table, the better the day! We had a terrific kick-off to the school year!

Coming Right Along
Check the little guy out!! Jonesy discovered a new trick today! He has come a LONG way in just two months (14 months old now), considering at 12 months he had only pulled up once. Now look at him go! He is a dynamo and will be running circles around me before I know it. :-)
